Just wanted to make sure these folks at Uncommon Clay get a proper recommendation for this truly unique, beautiful and stellar performer (and I mean that in a good way ;)) in the microwave mug. The size is perfect for a hearty serving of your favorite stew or other comfort food. I wasn't sure how it would perform in the microwave, and so I tested it as follows: rounded 1/3 cup oatmeal and 1 cup water, 900W microwave for 2 1/2 minutes. Results was a beautifully cooked bowl of oatmeal and the handle was still basically at room temperature. This exceeds my expectations. Highly recommend. One thing I would like to see is a matching lid with clay handle that would sit comfortably atop the mug. Would facilitate short-term storage and re-heating.(Update) Another suggestion for a product line is a matching set - say, 12oz size - of a mug/single cup pour over thingy (you folks know what I mean) that would hold a cone-shaped filter. This would be a really big hit, especially among us retired folks who have the time to discover just how good even the "M" or "Y" coffee brands can be in making a very nice cup of coffee IF we make it by hand. I use it all the time & it's holding up well. Glad I don't have to baby it, just put it through the dishwasher when dirty.The dimensions of the cup are fine. But as can be seen the dripping color drowns the red, unlike the example. In addition there is a glazing flaw leaving a small rough unglazed white spot in the red portion. Since this is a gift I’ll have to see if the giftee thinks these two objections warrant a return. This really is a shame that better quality control should spot. A potential 5 is reduced to 3.I found this item to be useful as both a mug and a small bowl.I'm not fond of having to do a lot of dishes.This mug/bowl seems to fit my lifestyle." nice product "Hello! Once we opened the package we loved seeing the cups come out one by one- the colors are awesome! We really like the size of the cups and we can use them for anything. We can use them for coffee, soup, snacks they’re perfect. We recently got an espresso machine and it’s been perfect for cappuccinos too! Each one is slightly different, giving it an authentic - handmade look. The handle is sturdy - not too thick to hold onto. The bottoms are a bit rough, but there is a cork trim to keep it from scratching. I'm going to use damp fine grit sandpaper on there and it should be easy to smooth out.
