I first ordered this product several months ago via the Mullet Magic website and really loved it. So, I ordered it again, this time through Amazon, and got a completely different product....but it's being marketed as the same product. (on the right, in the picture) Not only that, it arrived used! There was a finger mark in it where someone had dipped into it already (as seen in picture). I decided to try it out anyway and it was awful. It has a rubbery plastic-y type consistency, similar to silicone caulking. It was difficult to work into my hair, dried hard and crispy, and ended up leaving a flaky residue. It smells weird too.The first one I bought through their website was completely different. (on the left, in the picture) It was great, soft thick paste-like consistency, and worked like a dream on my mohawk. I loved it. I follow them on social media and didn't see or hear any mention of the actual product changing...only a mention about the packaging changing. Judging by some of the other pics here on these reviews, it looks like the product keeps changing. Not sure what's up with that.I reached out to the seller via Amazon and raised the issue. I explained that the product came 'used' and asked why it was different etc. In their reply, they told me to email them directly via their website with my concerns and they would 'send another one'. I sent a message directly via their website....explaining my concerns etc. I got a very brief response which basically said 'thanks for your message, if you give us a 5 star review on Amazon, we will send you another one'. They did not answer my questions at all. They did not explain why/how I got sent a used product either. Poor communication, inconsistent product quality and worst customer service ever. Yuck, no thanks. So, I got this stuff for my son. He looks really good with the unstructured, slightly messy hair look. On opening and smelling (you know you smell product immediately on opening, don't we all!) it, he pronounced the smell "great" and took off to try it out. He returned with perfectly imperfect hair. Impressed, I decided to try it myself having come to the conclusion that nothing could control my hair. I will confess that the texture and thickness was offputting at first. It kind of felt like toothpaste and immediately reminded me of having the "toothpaste in palm, tickle nose" prank at slumber parties growing up. Then I remembered -- because of course I ran my hand through my hair while sleeping -- how the hair held its shape with the liberal application of Crest. So I dug in, applied the product and styled my stubborn locks. W.O.W. After application, MM held my hair in crazy directions (had to really put it to the test) without feeling thick or crunchy. The smell and texture were nice and stayed through fitful sleep and a vigorous brushing the next day. It washed out cleanly and left no yucky residue. Now, I have no desire to have a mullet having lived through the '70s and '80s in central Kentucky, but if I did I know MM would enable me to have the most marvelous of mullets. Of any other hair style, for that matter!I love MM! It’s literally the best product I’ve used for trying to achieve the style I want for my mullet.People actually tell me I have a magical mullet and I give all the glory to MM.I have both kinds of the styling clay, the one that comes in the taller tin(3.3oz) and the other one that is shorter(2.8oz). I prefer the taller can. It’s more like a paste but it goes into my hair nicely and dries quickly with a light matte feeling that has some serious hold. The one in the squat container is truly like a clay. The consistency is vey hard and the scent is much more apparent and masculine than the other. It feels heavier and greasier in my hair as well.Yet I’m happy to have tried both of them so I know. I definitely recommend getting the taller can.Who cares if there’s a couple dents, it’s what’s inside that counts! And it absolutely puts some Magic in your Mullet!!The scent is not strong seems to work good. However, it has about the consistency of silly putty. Its really hard to get it workable to put in your hair. The pictured container in the add is over twice the size of what they really send you by the looks of it. False advertising!! Also, i trusted the writeup that the ingredients are pure but the package still doesn't have ingredients. I guess I will have to find it on their website. Will probably seek out a different product next time.I’ve been wanting to try this for a while, but have never been quite satisfied with any other styling clays/pastes I’ve tried and was hesitant to purchase yet another. I finally did and was not disappointed-Mullet Magic is truly...magic! Smells amazing- very fresh and clean. Most importantly though- it makes my messy mullet look 10x better than it ever has, without making it feel greasy or like I have a ton of product in. Great consistency, and I’m SO happy with how much it has transformed my hair!Once you get the paste/clay a little melted down in your hands, which takes way to long, it does have a nice hold. I dont think I'd buy again. It just takes to long to get the product useable, it's to hard of a clay to be easy to work with. I had high hopes for this one kinda dissapointed. This products does exactly whats it's intended to do: creates great texture, light weight, not greasy at all, and even works in combination with other products. Organic ingredients are the way to go today, and its important the maker of this product is on the mark with this. I waited to some time to experiment with it. It works! Its the best product I have used. Definitely going to keep this as a daily way to style my hair.I have been rockin' a mullet for the past 9 years now and I am elated to finally have a product that caters to my busy "on the go" lifestyle. Step out of the shower, give a quick blow dry, and apply/style to whatever aesthetic suits me that day. Business in the front, small gatherings of no more than 2 house holds in the back. Thank you Mullet Magic for keeping me Instagram thirst trap ready! xoxo
